Well thank you so much Archbishop Nellman and our orthodox and catholic bishops, we are so very happy, very very pleased to have you here, and grateful.
So whether this is your first March for Life or you’re a seasoned veteran, I see some of you out there that are seasoned veterans right in the front row here, but I met many in the hotel this morning that this is their first march for life. I just really do wanna honor you and thank you for making history by being part of our world’s largest annual human right demonstration. You, by being here, are advocating for the poorest of the poor, you are advocating that social justice begins in the womb. Thank you for standing on the right side of history and for being here. We are so very very grateful.
The theme for the 52 annual march for life is “Life. Why we march”. It’s a very simple reminder of the basic and beautiful truths about why we are all here today. The first and most foundational part of our theme is that every human being regardless of race, regardless of disability, regardless of religion, gender, size, or stage of development in the womb, every single life has inherent human dignity, and it is just that case.
Marchers, can I ask you a question? Do you believe… So I’m gonna ask you a question and then I’m gonna ask you to answer. Marchers, do you believe that all human life, from the moment of conception, has inherent human dignity. Let me hear you say: YES. Let’s try that one again. Let me hear you say: YES. On the fourth and final point of the theme, the power of telling your story.
For over a decade, we had the March of life to use the hashtag #whywemarch on all social media, related to the march for life. Why? Because your stories matter. Your stories can change people’s hearts and minds on this issue. At the march for life we’re in the business of changing hearts and minds. Our goal is to make abortion unthinkable. Your stories will help us reach that goal. Why are you here? Why are you pro-life? Each of you has a reason, and when you share that reason, your witness makes a difference.
